Daily Kiwi/Aussie Slang: crust

crust = living (n)

Example: "What do you do for a crust?" "I'm a brickie."

Profanity rating: zero

My guess the origin for this is that "crust" is related to "bread" as "bread" is a synonym for "money" (for example: "breadwinner" = main money earner in the household). We can also call money, often cash, "dough".
